As a son of a statistic-loving father, I naturally inherited some of his love for stats. And I was thinking today: If every word someone said was put down on paper, how many sheets of paper would be filled?
Now, I have many fun fact books and I love them, but they don’t have this statistic. They tell you everything: if stars have brains (which they don’t), in Zwahli there’s a record-breaking temple, the world’s largest candy bar (broken by Reese’s…I think), and much, much more.
But they don’t have this statistic.
SO as a lover of figuring things out, and out of my own curiosity, I calculated how many words people would say…
✅ Average Words per Year: Approximately 5,475,000 words.
✅ Words per 10 Years: Accumulating to about 54,750,000 words over a decade.
✅ Pages in Speech Every 10 Years: Roughly 210,576 pages spoken, assuming an average of 260 words per page.
✅ Total Words in a Lifetime: Estimated at 394,200,000 words based on a worldwide average life expectancy of 72 years.
✅ Pages of Speech in a Lifetime: Approximately 1,516,154 pages filled with speech during an entire (Average) lifetime.
I calculated this by split screening the calculator on my iPad with a Safari page. Then I figured out both how many pages are filled in words on average, as well as how many words people say daily worldwide.
I’m sure someone out there has already calculated all this stuff, but still! It’s fun to figure it out for yourself.
And besides that, my curiosity is satisfied. PHEW! 😅 😆
