Fun fruits 2

About 2 weeks ago, I wrote a post about tasting a sapote and papaya for the first time. Both of them were…not super good. My mom and I went back to the market for a burger cookout, and I stumbled across 2 new fruits she couldn’t turn down. And they did not disappoint!

Passion fruit

This fruit is native to South America, and grows on a climbing vine. They’re oval shaped and lemon-sized, and their exterior is a pretty unremarkable maroon color. But the inside makes up for that! When sliced in half, each side holds a juicy, yellow interior. The texture comes from the black seeds, which are small and very crunchy. But the actual flavor is found in the gel-like aril and juice surrounding the seeds, which possesses a sweet and tart flavor. The smell is amazing too; bright, tangy, and intensely aromatic with sweet and sour notes. So good!

Starfruit

The starfruit is native to Southeast Asia, where it grows on an evergreen tree. They’re light green or yellow, and have a star-shaped profile. If there was a fruit hierarchy, starfruit would be the sharpest and most refreshing to hang out with; 90% of it is water! Its texture is crunchy and crisp, and it’s citrus-apple flavored. It is debatably one of the best fruits of all time. It is definitely my favorite.
