Life is like a game of golf.

Here’s why:

Be used to continuous growth. If a form is not working, golfers have to change it during the round. Depending on the course, certain strategies might be more effective. Heraclitus said, “The only constant is change.” If you want to succeed in life, get used to change. And learn to become better from failed attempts.

Focus, but don’t overthink. If you ask pro golfers their secret, they often say something like, “don’t overthink it. Have fun.” That’s a good motto for life. Of course, you need focus as well. But balance between the two is important.

It requires patience. You can’t rush through holes, much like you can’t rush through milestones. You’ll get lots of time to rush around in a golfcart. Enjoy a slow walk with a friend. It’ll make you have a greater appreciation for the golfcarts. Life is a marathon, not a sprint.

Countless uncontrollable variables. Humans are wired to like consistency. But again, the only constant is change. Learn to be calm when weather, high grass, and sandtraps shatter your perfect plan.

You will make mistakes. One bad hole won’t ruin your scorecard, but it will if you let your disappointment linger through the rest of the game. Take it hole by hole, shot by shot. A perfect golf round doesn’t exist, and a perfect life doesn’t either. You have to move on. Focus on the next hole.

Be the guy who can…

Talk with a friend.

Laugh at your missed shot.

Have fun.

I’m talking mostly to myself…

P.S. I have never played golf before (heehee). I was just talking with a buddy when he mentioned that “life is like a game of golf”.
